Make sure the clutch is always engaged when changing gears.

When in neutral, manual automobiles can slide under certain circumstances, even when parked. It is advised to shift into first gear before stepping out of the automobile. When going downhill, it is acceptable to shift into reverse.
Avoid coasting downward.
It’s fun to drive up and down slopes, but don’t get carried away and start coasting in neutral as you descend. Though it may seem like it will save you money on gasoline, this is really highly risky. Because you can just brake, you’ll have less total control over your car. Coasting in neutral while descending a hill also puts strain on the braking system.
Avoid using the clutch to maintain traction on an incline.
Hill-hold assist is available in many modern vehicles, including those with manual transmissions. Sometimes a car will utilise its brakes to assist you in climbing a steep incline. The only option in a car lacking this function is manual control. To hold the car, however, you should never use the clutch or throttle pedal. Use the brakes instead. Driving the car down a slope while it’s parked causes the clutch to slip, which raises the temperature and causes more wear.
